DRAFT BOARD CONCEPT TO BE TESTED

Image
In January of 2021, all was quiet in the Brit Towers chats, yet at the HQ the Commish and Assistant Commish had a conversation. A questions was posed. How can we have our standalone draft board and not use Sleeper? Fast forward to November 2021, with the season in full swing and teams heading into Week 9, that question took a step closer to becoming reality. In January/February 2022 a group of 16 GM's from across the leagues have been invited to test a new Brit Towers Draft Board concept which, if successful, would make all the leagues a "standalone" universe with no need to use an app. Today, we are able to share a few graphics as to how the Brit Towers Draft Board - version 1.0 looks: THE DRAFT BOARD This is the main draft board (BFFL teams have been used in this example on version 1.0) 1. Top Left - there is a timer shows which team is on the clock 2. Left Side - This is a list showing the top players available, position, team and bye week 3. Top Bar - Shows all team...

THE WILD GEESE

Image
What More Can We Do?  Hardy Kruger, Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris A group of mercenaries, lost and searching for a cause to fight for, eager to succeed in their quirky and strange ethos. The search for acceptance in a truly strange world. That is the 1978 film "The Wild Geese". One of my personal favourite films. A band of people from different walks of life, with varying experiences who chose, for one reason or another, to fight for a cause. Right or wrong they all had their own personal choices to make and as a retro "throwback" in accordance with this league, I can't think of a better analogy to Brit Towers. 96 different people, who came together for a reason, whatever the reason. The poignant lyrics of this song are posted at the end, but for those who joined in the beginning, midway through or will join later. The questions are:  "What chance to make it last?" "What more can we do?" The answers are what you make them. Yet, ...

WEEK 3 - BRIT TOWERS

Image
A change from the past two weeks updates from Brit Towers.  Instead of posting the results and the standings on the blog, these will now be shared as snapshots on our Twitter (please follow - @BritishFFL ) and the blog will be used to give a summary on the week which was. BFFL The defending champions, Essex Wolverines, are still searching for their first win and find themselves adrift in the East Division. It is Medway Tigers who surge ahead, with over 200+ PF average and an unbeaten record. They will want to keep this momentum going as they face Newcastle Lions, who won the BFFL North in 2020. Over in the North, Edinburgh take top spot after their win against Manchester but come up against a tough Cambridge Dragons team in Week 4. The South is as close as it was in 2020. All four teams are on a 1-1 divisional record and now they entertain the teams from the West. Brighton Sharks still sit top with their two wins, all the other three teams on a 1-2. The West has that familia...

WEEK 2 - BRIT TOWERS

Hopes were high and enthusiasm bubbled after the Week 1 results. The teams sped into Week 2 and then the injuries hit. There were a lot of nervous GM's throughout the leagues over the weekend as they waited for the scores to come through. This was the first week of two weeks of divisional match-ups and getting one over on your rivals within your division sat top of the priority list. Here are the results and standings after Week 2 at Brit Towers. BESTBALL

WEEK 1 - BRIT TOWERS

Image
That is Week 1 complete here at Brit Towers. As covered in previous league posts, this is a massive season for all the teams involved with the introduction of the promotion and relegation system between all the levels. It is one community. This is Brit Towers. Here is a round-up from around the leagues: The Brighton Sharks took the GM Of The Week award as they amassed 234 points against defending British champions, Essex Wolverines.  Brighton were the only South division team to win their games in Week 1 and head into next week's divisional match-ups hoping to keep their 100% record as they face their fierce rivals, Swindon Steam. The East Division teams dominated the other games and it is Medway Tigers who sit top, with a superior points for and they face second in their division, Cambridge Dragons, so one of these teams will be 100% going into Week 3. The West was business as usual as Bristol Trojans and Dudley Scorpions picked up their wins over teams in the North. Talkin...

A BIG SEASON

Image
The 2021 season in the Brit Towers universe is going to be huge for many reasons across our six levels, mostly in part to the promotion and relegation system kicking in. This format did not exist for our inaugural 2020 season as the teams settled in to the top three levels, leaving 32 teams to compete in regional divisions within the BFU to decide who would form the fourth level BFU for 2021 and who would form the fifth level BFO. Add to this the addition of British Bulldog, our bestball format level, which will join the promotion and relegation system in 2022 and it is easy to see why this is such a big season. For an in-depth look at the season ahead here is what will be happening in the Brit Towers universe for 2021: THE BFFL CUP A new "F.A. Cup" style addition to the league formats, where all 96 teams will be able to go up against each other in this knockout competition. Barriers of which level a team plays in will be broken down and every team has a chance to lift the ...
