DRAFT BOARD CONCEPT TO BE TESTED

In January of 2021, all was quiet in the Brit Towers chats, yet at the HQ the Commish and Assistant Commish had a conversation.

A questions was posed.

How can we have our standalone draft board and not use Sleeper?

Fast forward to November 2021, with the season in full swing and teams heading into Week 9, that question took a step closer to becoming reality.

In January/February 2022 a group of 16 GM's from across the leagues have been invited to test a new Brit Towers Draft Board concept which, if successful, would make all the leagues a "standalone" universe with no need to use an app.

Today, we are able to share a few graphics as to how the Brit Towers Draft Board - version 1.0 looks:

THE DRAFT BOARD

This is the main draft board (BFFL teams have been used in this example on version 1.0)

1. Top Left - there is a timer shows which team is on the clock
2. Left Side - This is a list showing the top players available, position, team and bye week
3. Top Bar - Shows all teams and their logos in pick number order
4. Middle - This is the board (see graphic below)

PLAYER SEARCH BOX

As can be seen in the above graphic, an easy search and select process in the blank box. In this example the beginning of 'Christian McCaffrey" was typed in and up popped a selection of players who fell within the range of the letters typed. No drop down icon, just one box, easily searchable.

KEEPER TAB

There will be a keeper tab on the draft board. Once all keepers have been selected they are entered here and they automatically disappear from the draft board and search function.

In the case that a team, after selecting their 8 keepers, then trades prior to their draft and obtain more than 8 players, this tab is fully customisable by the Asst. Commish and we can adapt to the needs of a specific league.

PLAYERS DRAFTED

This tab will display players which have been drafted, showing "ALL" players and then players by position.

BEST AVAILABLE PLAYERS

The next tab is the "Best Available Players" in easy to identify columns with player information.

A NEW ERA

It had been a vision of the Commish to have a standalone draft board from the very beginning but it wasn't until the technical and detailed knowledge of the Asst. Commish was offered whereby it went from think-tank to discussion and now from discussion to testing.

It is hoped the testing in the off-season will go well and it will take the next step from testing to reality.

The work by the Asst. Commish on this has been, as it always is, phenomenal. As a Commish I try and support him in all of the new gadgets he brings to the league by helping with admin duties such as data input or "manual labour" by painting and decorating, but the cogs and circuits are all the work of the Asst. Commish and I thank him very much for the work he puts into this league, a league we both love very much.

This is purely a concept at this stage. Yes, so far it is very promising and it is that next step we need to take to bring this a reality and the Asst. Commish is looking at other tweaks and improvements moving forward.

Remember, this is Version 1.0 - But the idea is now a concept and from there we hope to make this a reality in our step to becoming 100% standalone.

The GM's have been invited and we shall keep you posted next year on the progress of this exciting project and major enhancement to our league.

Stay tuned for further news in the off-season about this.
