  Havant. A town in Hampshire between Portsmouth and Winchester, the centre being an old Celtic settlement. A large proportion of the town was destroyed by fire in 1760 leaving only a church and cottages, which were turned into a pub. It is said the beams in the pub came from the Spanish Armada. There are several natural springs in the area and Havant was home to the premier parchment manufacturing facility. The Treaty of Versailles was written on Havant parchment. In sporting terms, the senior football team in the area is non-league Havant & Waterlooville F.C. who reached the fourth round of the FA Cup in 2008 after beating Swansea City. The town is represented both in rugby and hockey, with Havant Hockey Club three times winners of the England Hockey League and two hockey players represented England at the Commonwealth Games in 2006. Malcolm Cooper is a member of the rifle and pistol club in Havant and went on to win gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. In fantasy ...
