QUICK 10 WITH.....OXFORD SCHOLARS
Oxford. Home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world. The City Of Dreaming Spires is home to many museums, galleries and wonderful architecture.
It was an Anglo-Saxon settlement, Oxford means "ford of the oxen" and is known for its car production, publishing houses, science and brewing.
On a sporting front apart from Oxford United in League One and the semi-professional Oxford City in the Conference South, the location is famed for speedway, greyhound racing, ice hockey and now has a semi-professional rugby league team. Then there is of course the Boat Race.
Oxford does have a British American Football team with the Oxford Saints being one of the longest running teams in the British set-up, formed in 1983.
In the BFFL Universe, the Scholars were formed in 2020 as the Oxford Ravens and competed in the BFU South and just missed out on the playoffs. Paddi, the GM, picked up two GM Of The Week awards and was renowned as a high scorer in the league.
This is Paddi, a founding member of the "The Banjo Brothers" aka "BFU South" and the GM of Oxford Scholars and these are his Quick 10 Questions:
1. How did you get involved in the league?
Like it was for others, the BFFL appeared on my Twitter timeline so I started following the account and when the call went for more franchises, I threw my hat in the ring for the glorious city of Oxford.
2. What team do you support and why?
I don't have a team but am very comfortable with that. I've been writing about the game for 8 years so I find it all pretty fascinating. My fantasy writing means I'm much more focused on players than teams as well.
3. How did you get into NFL?
My dad has been a fan since the 70's and is still a big Steelers fan, so it's something I've always known about, though I've only really been really invested since 2007 when the London games started.
4. Who is your favourite player and why?
Aaron Donald. Just such a dominant player who has a huge impact when he's on the field. He's changed how we view interior defensive linemen as well as he's such a freak as a pass rusher.
5. What is your experience with fantasy football?
I got into it in 2014 and have played more and more every year across all formats, including DFS. I started writing about it about 4 years ago and have been writing for FakeTeams.com for the last 3 years. I'm a stats geek by profession so the jump to fantasy football was a natural move for me.
6. What are your views on a potential London franchise?
As a neutral I'm all for it. I've been to every game in London since 2014 and am really hoping they get back there this Autumn. I just love the experience and think the addition of the Tottenham Stadium has made it even better.
7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?
Fantasy football is my hobby but other than the NFL I'm a general sports fan. Soccer, Golf and Cricket are my top watches, but I'll watch anything. Sport has always been a big part of my life and I don't think that will ever change.
8. What's your favourite film?
The Shawshank Redemption. A perfectly paced and acted film. If I ever see its on the TV then that's my evening done.
9. What's your favourite music?
I go through phases but I grew up with Brit Pop so that's always my default. I was always an Oasis guy but in general I'm no music snob, I'll listen to anything. Currently listening to Bastille but it was 90's pop this morning.
10. Who is your Super Bowl tip this year?
I'd love to see the Bills build on their 2020 season and get to the Super Bowl. As a fantasy guy, I loved seeing Josh Allen's growth last year.

We want to thank Paddi for taking the time out his busy schedule to take part in the Quick 10 and wish him the best of luck in his hunt for promotion this season.
