QUICK 10 WITH.....HAYDOCK STEELERS

Haydock is a large village within the Metropolitan Borough of St. Helens. It is, approximately, located halfway between Liverpool and Manchester.

It was a place rich in coal and mining, with upto 13 collieries working at any one time. Despite being a 'village', in the 1900's Haydock in fact had three railway stations.

The Haydock Brass Band was formed in 1861 and is still going, but it is best known for its racecourse.

Haydock Park Racecourse opend in 1899, a left-handed track of 1 mile and 5 furlongs which hosts both Flat and National Hunt Racing.  It hosts many notable races including the Grand National Trial, the Betfair Chase, the Champion Hurdle Trial and the Group 1 Haydock Spring Cup. It was awarded Racecourse of the Year in 1998 and 2000.

The Haydock Steelers are an expansion team for 2021. They will compete in the BFA North Division, replacing South Manchester Rockets who left the league at the end of the 2020 season. They have the 6th overall draft pick and due to 2020 trading, they also have multiple picks in rounds 5, 7 and 12.

The GM is Jimmy and these are his Quick 10 Questions.

1. How did you get involved in the league?

A mate of mine has a team in one of the other leagues and wanted me to join.

2. What team do you support and why?

Pittsburgh Steelers - First game I ever watched was the Steelers winning the Super Bowl against the Cardinals and Big Ben threw that pass to Holmes in the last few seconds.

3. How did you get into NFL?

That Super Bowl was the first game I watched and loved it from then on.

4. Who is your favourite player and why?

Big Ben - Like I said, he looked un-athletic, but was really good, so I took a liking to him. That pass was inch perfect too, so not knowing anything about the sport I assumed he was one of the best players.

5. What is your experience with fantasy football?

I've been involved in a few money leagues and trophy leagues with a few mates for the last 4 or 5 years. Myself and another mate do a random 10 man league every year too and usually meet in the final or semi-finals.

6. What are your views on a potential London franchise?

I love the idea. Myself and a couple of mates went to 3 of the last 4 in London. I don't think anyone with a team would change their team, but it would be good having more opportunity to watch games live.

7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?

I'm into football (Liverpool), basketball (Heat), rugby league (Saints). Most sports really. Also, you can't beat a good quiz.

8. What's your favourite film?

If I'm going mainstream, Terminator 2. If we're going to be bit obscure, The Invisible Guest.

9. What's your favourite music?

Nickelback and proud of it. I'll listen to pretty much anything though, something a bit heavier generally though, like Metallica or Seether.

10. Who is your Super Bowl tip this year?

It's hard to see past the Bucs or Chiefs again at the moment. I called Bucs last year and I'm sticking with them again this year.

We would like to thank Jimmy for answering the Quick 10 Questions and wish him all the best in his rookie GM season. He has the pick numbers, does he have the picks though?
