QUICK 10 WITH.....CAUSEWAY GIANTS

The Giant's Causeway, located in County Antrim, is the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption.

Part of the National Trust, it was declared a World Heritage site in 1986 and a national nature reserve in 1987. Legend states that the columns are the remains of a causeway built by a giant. Mythology states that the Giant, named Fionn mac Cumhaill, was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner.

The Causeway Giants are the only sporting endeavour in the area. They competed in the BFA North Division last season and won the division. Unfortunately, they were unable to proceed passed the Divisional Playoff.

For 2021 they move to the West Division where they hope to emulate their division winning 2020 season.

The GM of Causeway Giants is Tom, pod host at 5 Yard College - and these are his Quick 10 Questions.

1. How did you get involved in the league?

My good friend Murf advertised an opening and I couldn't turn it down.

2. What team do you support and why?

New York Jets - I visited New York in 2013 and bought some merchandise (without knowing anything about the game!). There was more Giants merchandise, so I thought I'd be different. I've always been a sucker for an underdog story.

My then partner was a Colts fan, as was their whole family. It would have been a great time to jump on the Andrew Luck bandwagon, but it seemed too easy. In fact, my first NFL jersey was an Anthony Gonzalez Colts jersey. I still have a soft spot for Indianapolis, but it's nothing compared to my love for Gang Green.

3. How did you get into NFL?

Once the merchandise was bought, I had to see what all the fuss was about. I got myself a Game Pass subscription and never looked back.

4. Who is your favourite player and why?

All-Time? - Ryan Fitzpatrick. He has given so much to the game and is my definition of a true leader. Sure, he's not a Hall of Fame QB. I can live with that. The game's better for having a guy like him in it. I always cheer him on, even when he was a Dolphin.

All-Time Jet? - Got to be the immortal Joe Namath. - 12 months ago it was hands down Jamal Adams. Not anymore!)

5. What is your experience with fantasy football?

I casually played for a couple of years. Now, I'm a full blown addict. Redraft, dynasty, devy, college football, IDP, you name it.

I'm not the best player, but I did win one championship last year, as well as Causeway topping the BFA North. We fell in the playoffs and are ready to go one better next year.

6. What are your views on a potential London franchise?

Not for me. I enjoy the current set-up with the London games. It's good to watch teams you wouldn't necessarily catch on Game Pass. I'm already excited for watching the Jets when they make it across the pond!

7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?

I'm a football fan. Like the Jets, my team is in the gutter and looking up at the stars - Bolton Wanderers.

We have our past glories, but it's been a tough decade or so. I hope better days are ahead for both my teams.

In the college game, I'm a newly converted Georgia Bulldogs fan. Go Dawgs!

8. What's your favourite film?

This is a tough one! - It really depends on the mood I'm in. I'm a huge James Bond fan, From Russia With Love is probably my favourite. I'll watch any Bond film (even the Roger Moore ones!)

9. What's your favourite music?

Growing up in Greater Manchester, it has to be that music scene. Oasis, Stone Roses, Charlatans, Courteeners. That said, I have an eclectic music taste. I can listen to Ska, Dean Martin and Wu Tang Clan all in the space of a day.

10. Who is your Super Bowl tip this year?

It's too soon to tell. I like what Buffalo have built, so they're an outside shot in the AFC. The NFC is a bit of a mess at the minute. If I had to pick, I'd hold my nose and say Washington are a QB away from a Super Bowl run.

We would like to thank Tom from taking time-out from his college pod-hosting, family and parental duties and wish him the best of luck in the BFA West this season. The Commish is suitably impressed with the answer to question number 10!
