QUICK 10 WITH.....CAMBRIDGE DRAGONS
Cambridge is a university city and county town of Cambridgeshire.
A former Roman fort stood on the outskirts of the city and it was badly affected by the Black Death.
During the World War II, Cambridge was an important location for the defence of the east coast. The military leaders actually met in Trinity College to plan the invasion of Europe. It was a major evacuation centre during the war for people from London.
The famous university was established in 1209 and has one of the largest deposit libraries in the world. The city is the heart of technology, home to Silicon Fen.
In sporting terms you can't mention Cambridge without thinking of the Boat Race. Cambridge United, from League Two, play their home games at Abbey Stadium and the city also has a second team who play in non-league football, Cambridge City. Cambridge R.U.F.C. play in National League 1 and the Lions represent the city in Rugby League.
The Cambridge Dragons are a founding member of the BFFL, competing the BFFL East. It was a tough 2020, having both Essex and Norwich who reached the Bowl in their division. They posted a 5-8 record, but were 3-3 in divisional games. They have the 6th overall pick in the BFFL Draft.
We managed to pull the England international darts player, Lewis, away from the dart board to ask him some questions.
This is Lewis, the GM of Cambridge Dragons, and these are his Quick 10 Questions.
1. How did you get involved in the league?
I won a spot through a 5 Yard Rush competition.
2. What team do you support and why?
Vikings - I started because of the You Tube channel "99 Questions", where Bryan Robison would ask players questions and I thought it was hilarious. I found myself following the Vikings more and more.
3. How did you get into NFL?
From Last Chance U on Netflix, then I watched some college games on ESPN, started playing Madden mobile which all gradually lead to being turned into watching NFL every Sunday.
4. Who is your favourite player and why?
Dalvin Cook - My favourite position is running back, so that's kind of why.
5. What is your experience in fantasy football?
My second season is about to start.
6. What are you views on a potential London franchise?
I'm all for it. I'd travel down to watch home games.
7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?
Darts (England International player 2015) and football (Arsenal fan)
8. What's your favourite film?
Chopper.
9. What's your favourite music?
I don't have a favourite genre. I like a bit of everything, but Luke Combs at the moment. Plus, he's big into American Football as well (Panthers & Tar Heels).
10. Who is your Super Bowl tip this year?
49ers, bounce-back season.
We would like to thank Lewis for stepping away from the dart board.....
"Onnnnnne.....Hundred......annnnnnn....eiggggghtyyyyyy!!!!".......
.......and taking the time out to answer these questions.
"Gammmme shot......annnnnd the match......!!"
Interesting-small-world fact - The Commish's daughter used to play county youth darts and so it was around about 6 or 7 weeks into the season that The Commish found out his son and daughter both know Lewis personally, through the darts circuit - Small world.
