BFA TRADE - BARRETT TO SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Yesterday afternoon the Glasgow Claymores agreed a trade with the South Yorkshire Jaguars for linebacker Shaq Barrett.

The Claymores are looking to go one better than just reaching a Bowl this year, they want to win it, whereas the Jaguars are rebuilding after a difficult season.

The Jaguars received Shaq Barrett and sent their 13th round draft pick to the Claymores. To make room for Barrett the Jaguars released Mack Wilson.

The Claymores GM, Gary, met with the press soon after the trade was confirmed.

"Delighted to get a deal done for Shaq. I was concerned my lack of experience was going to catch up with me when I initially brought Shaq and Mike Evans to Glasgow. In hindsight this wasn't the best long term move."

Gary was referring to the trade with Deal Broncos which saw Barrett move to the Claymores in exchange for Tremaine Edmunds and the Claymores 15th round pick.

"However, since being able to bring in Jaylon Smith in exchange for Evans last week and now a 13th for Shaq I feel I'm overall in a stronger net position as a result going into the draft."

Over at the South Yorkshire Jaguars, their GM Lee invited reporters into the Jags war room to discuss the deal.

"It was always my intention to keep Eric Wilson after an impressive 2020 season, but as hard as this is for me to admit, it seems the Vikings might know a little more than I do and they've prioritised Barr returning from injury and Wilson remains an unsigned free agent. If Barrett can return to double digit sack numbers, the 13th round compensation is a steal. Lots of upside for a mid-round pick.

The deal went through yesterday at midday.
