QUICK 10 WITH.....EDINBURGH COBRAS

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland and seat of the Scottish government. It is home to the National Museum of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish National Gallery.

It is also known as Auld Reekie, from the poems of Allan Ramsay.

The city dates back to the Mesolithic period. The royal burgh was founded in the 12th Century on land belonging to the Crown. In 1603 King James VI of Scotland succeeded the throne of England, uniting the crowns.

It is famed for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Edinburgh Arts Festival and Edinburgh International Book Festival.

In sporting terms, Edinburgh has three main football teams, Hearts, Hibernian and also semi-professional Edinburgh City. The national rugby team play at Murrayfield, as do its Edinburgh Rugby team. The Scottish cricket team play their games in Edinburgh and it is home to the Murrayfield Racers ice hockey team. Caledonia Pride are the only women's professional basketball team in Scotland and Edinburgh Wolves compete in the BAFA Premier level.

The Edinburgh Cobras are a founding member of the BFFL and compete in the BFFL North. They reached the Divisional Playoffs, only to lose to eventual British champions Essex.

This is Ben, the GM of Edinburgh Cobras and these are his Quick 10 Questions.

1. How did you get involved in the league?

Replied to a Tweet, made my case, got my place.

2. What team do you support and why?

49ers - As with many of us Brits of a certain age, the NFL was on TV in the 80s back when there were only a few channels. Like most kids, I was a glory hunter and Montana and Co were the team I chose.

3. How did you get into NFL?

As per my previous answer, I'd watch any sport I could and loved the NFL quickly. I think my first memory is of seeing William "The Refrigerator" Perry being brought in for a goal line play and hurling his gigantic frame up and over the line.

4. Who is your favourite player and why?

Currently, it's hard to go beyond Kittle, he's just so much fun to watch and contributes in all parts of the offense. Outside of the 9ers, Dalvin Cook. He's the first player I remember watching from college through to the NFL when he fell after the combine, but I was convinced he'd be great. So awesome to see him getting beyond the injuries. All-time though, can't say anyone but Jerry Rice.

5. What is your experience with fantasy football?

I've been playing since 2012. Started with a work league and joined my first dynasty the following year. Strangely, that was also my first IDP league. I'm now in around 27 Dynasty leagues, many of them IDP, a few Devy, a wide range of rules.

6. What are your views on a potential London franchise?

It would be great to have one here, I think it's feasible with the fan base here but would be interesting to see how quickly they can gather their own supporter base. I've been a season ticket holder for the Wembley games for a number of years now, so would be excited to have even more games.

7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?

I've always played and watched a lot of sport through my life, but it has died down significantly over the past few years. Now, it's a few games of golf, 5-a-side with work and supporting Coventry City when I can.

8. What's your favourite film?

It's a tough question to name one. I think particularly I've always loved many films that came out in the mid-nineties. If pushed I'd say Goodfellas has always been one of my faves. If we're talking the one I've watched the most, it's likely to be Happy Gilmore.

9. What's your favourite music?

This is even harder. I've been to see lots of acts from Prodigy, through to KT Tunstall to Eminem. My usual answer forever is REM with a special mention to Shed Seven.

10. Who is your Super Bowl tip this year?

9ers clearly! - Honestly, I think they're a reasonable chance if they're healthier this year and even if Jimmy plays ahead of whoever comes at rookie. Chiefs are deserving faves though, for an outsider.

I'd like to thank Ben for taking the time out to complete the Quick 10. He is hoping to bring to Scotland their first Championship in the BFFL.
