QUICK 10 WITH.....CARLISLE TITANS

Carlisle, the border city in Cumbria, finally have their own BFFL franchise in the form of the Titans, which we hope pleases the 108,000+ population of the city and the surrounding districts.

The Titans will compete in the new British Bulldog, 'bestball' set-up for 2021.

A renowned mill town which saw a boom during the industrial revolution, Carlisle was an early Roman settlement which served the forts on Hadrian's Wall and like the Romans, the new Titans GM is hoping to build an empire to move Carlisle through the pyramid system.

The new GM of the Carlisle Titans, in charge of bringing success to this great city, is Jess, our first and to date only female GM throughout the leagues. That is not a throw-away fact, as the numbers of female NFL supporters joining fantasy leagues, becoming analysts or writers increases, it is people like Jess who break down old, tired barriers of football and fantasy football to forge ahead into this new, modern era.

The Titans have the first overall pick in the first ever British Bulldog draft and it is going to be interesting to see where the new GM goes with that decision.

We sat down with Jess last night and threw the ten questions at her.

This is Jess, the new GM of the Carlisle Titans and these are her Quick 10 Questions.

1. How did you get involved in the league?

I was introduced to it by Dan over at Wessex Monarchs. We've been in a few leagues together over the last few years, so he gave me a heads up for the vacancy here.

2. What team do you support and why?

Tennessee Titans. I visited Tennessee in 2004 and absolutely loved the place, so a year or two later when I got into NFL I instantly looked for a team based there.

3. How did you get into NFL?

My dad has been into American Football since the 80s, he's a big WFT fan and I wanted to have something to talk to him about. I'm into UK sports, but he isn't. So, I started taking an interest and now I know more about it than him!

4. Who is your favourite player and why?

To be honest, I never really had one. I've had a few different jerseys over the years, but about 18 months ago I was given a 'Bama Derrick Henry shirt and after the season he's just had, I think it's going to be him going forward.

5. What is your experience with fantasy football?

I've only really got into it the last couple of years, but I've done 'soccer' versions for years so I understood the concept and the scoring etc. very quickly.

6. What are your views on a potential London franchise?

Honestly, I'm not for it. I like to see different teams come over both Home and Away and I just don't believe it would be that well received. Plus, if it is the Jags, there's no way I'd be on board with it - TITANS FOR LIFE!

7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?

I'm a massive Man United fan, previously also a season ticket holder when I lived down there. I'm a bit of a book nerd, love reading all kinds of books. Currently reading Grace Dents autobiography/memoir and I've already got Stephen King's new novel lined up.

8. What's your favourite film?

I am an absolute girl when it comes to films. I have a favourite three that I could never choose between: Working Girl, Beaches and Notting Hill.

9. What's your favourite music?

So varied! Currently on my 'record player' is Texas, but my music taste is all over the place: Rock, Pop, Country, Soul - and I have CDs & Vinyl of all those genres!

10. Who is your Super Bowl tip this year?

Well, I mean I've got to say Titan, right?! - It should be but the D is shocking so I'm going to have to say, either Buffalo or KC - whoever wins the AFC wins the Super Bowl.

We want to thank Jess for taking the time out to answer our Quick 10 questions and wish her the very best of luck in the 2021 season.
