BFA - RELEGATION ADJUSTMENT

The Commish has reviewed the relegation process in the BFA ahead of the 2021 season and has decided to make an adjustment to the rules.

The relegation process set out in the League Constitution for each league is as follows:

BFFL & BFC (Level 1 & 2)

1 team relegated from BFFL with the worst regular season record and Bowl winner promoted from BFC

BFC & BFA (Level 2 & 3)

1 team relegated from BFC with the worst regular season record and Bowl winner promoted from BFA

BFA & BFU (Level 3 & 4)

2 teams relegated from BFA with the two worst regular season records and Bowl winner plus Bowl runner-up promoted from BFU

BFU & BFO (Level 4 & 5)

The bottom four teams in the BFU divisions (North, East, South, West) are relegated and the four teams who win their BFO divisions are promoted. However, if a team who was runner-up in their division wins the Bowl they trump the winner in their division for promotion.

However, after looking at the structure in place for the two relegated places from the BFA to the BFU The Commish is making this slight adjustment.

The two BFA relegated teams will NOT be the "overall" two teams with the worst record, instead it will be out of the four teams who finish bottom of their divisions and then the two teams from that with the worst record will be relegated. This will be based on W/L and if tied then on PF, in line with the League Constitution.

The Commish had this to say:

"There could have been a situation where one division had the two worst teams in the league. This meant both those teams would be relegated and potentially two new teams coming in who will in effect have to build their roster from scratch, be it they inherit the rosters of the teams they are replacing. I felt this would weaken an already depleted division and that's not really in the ethos of the league. Therefore, I have decided that only teams who finish bottom of their division in the BFA are in-play for relegation. If you finish 3rd in your BFA division then you are safe from the relegation process."

This decision was announced to the BFA teams yesterday after The Commish spoke to a couple of advisors on the matter.

The British Bulldog level, new for 2021, will have their "settling in season" as with what happened in all the other leagues but as our previous article highlighted (BFO/British Bulldog - Promotion News), their promotion campaign kicks-in from 2022.

The season is upon us.

The Jurassic Coast is a world heritage site, stretching from Exmouth to Studland Bay. The highest point is the Golden Cap between Bridport and Charmouth and charts an extraordinary look into the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The Jackrabbits started life out as the Jurassic Coast Corsairs in the BFU. The GM, Chris, had to step down for a while but his love for the BFFL community brought him back. A BIG SEASON

  The 2021 season in the Brit Towers universe is going to be huge for many reasons across our six levels, mostly in part to the promotion and relegation system kicking in. This format did not exist for our inaugural 2020 season as the teams settled in to the top three levels, leaving 32 teams to compete in regional divisions within the BFU to decide who would form the fourth level BFU for 2021 and who would form the fifth level BFO.
