QUICK 10 WITH.....JURASSIC COAST JACKRABBITS
The Jurassic Coast is a world heritage site, stretching from Exmouth to Studland Bay. The highest point is the Golden Cap between Bridport and Charmouth and charts an extraordinary look into the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
The Jackrabbits started life out as the Jurassic Coast Corsairs in the BFU. The GM, Chris, had to step down for a while but his love for the BFFL community brought him back. A spot became available in the BFA and it was from here the Jurassic Coast Jackrabbits and their now infamous hastag - #defendthisrun - was born.
It was a rebuilding process last season for the Jackrabbits, formerly based in Weston, as they just missed out on a playoff spot in the BFA West. For 2021, it is a new name and a new division as they move to the BFA South division.
This is Chris - aka "CDK" to his friends in the league, and these are his Quick 10 Questions.
1. How did you first get involved in the league?
I know Harry (Bromsgrove Boars) from a few fantasy football leagues and he came to me quite excited that he was in the BFFL. I had never heard of it but the idea was incredible! Later that day I was in the league and I've enjoyed every minute - I feel I've made some friends for life.
2. What team do you support and why?
I support the Atlanta Falcons purely for the fact that I once drafted Julio Jones in fantasy and talked about him so much during the season that my wife bought me a Falcons jersey for Christmas. But, as a Brit, I reserve the right support any team on any given occasion. I've also got a penchant for Colorado State Rams in college football, because my kids like their logo.
3. How did you get into NFL?
I play Fantasy Premier League and a guy I played suggested I give Fantasy NFL a shot - that was in 2014. I drafted Dez Bryant with the first overall pick and took Stephen Gostkowski in the 7th round. Needless to say my skills have not improved in the slightest!
4. Who is your favourite player and why?
Obviously Julio Jones. He's quite possibly the greatest wide receiver to ever play the game. I also have a soft spot for Josh Gordon. I truly feel for him and his plight during his NFL career.
5. What is your experience with fantasy football?
This will be my 8th season of playing fantasy football. In that time I have probably made the playoffs in less than 10% of my leagues and won only 2 or 3 championships. But this year is different. I have a secret weapon up my sleeve.......
6. What are you views on a potential London franchise?
I'm not for it. I would say that most UK people that are interested in NFL already have a team and I don't think they'd switch just because the're 'local'. I'd be up for a breakaway league based in the UK or Europe though.
7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?
I support Norwich City, so that has its moments! I'll watch most sports given half the chance. I'm a keen runner, walker and writer.
8. What's your favourite film?
Back To The Future is my all-time favourite film. But I think the greatest film ever made is Leon.
9. What's your favourite music?
Anything and everything. Music is the glue of my world - it holds all of my pieces together. Top 5 favourites (in no particular order):
A Place Called Home by PJ Harvey
Trouble Man by Marvin Gaye
After Hours by We Are Scientists
Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues by Chris Thomas King
Idioteque by Radiohead
10. Who is your Super Bowl tip this year?
If it's to be the Falcons then it'll have to be this year. But it won't be the Falcons, so I'll say that the Green Bay Packers will beat the Cleveland Browns 27-19 in Super Bowl LVI. Because, why not?
We want to thank Chris for taking the time out to answer the Quick 10. We would also like to thank him for all his hard work behind the fantastic logos a lot of you teams now have for 2021.
