QUICK 10 WITH..... SOUTHEND ADVENTURERS
It was a renowned fishing location but after the visit of Princess Caroline of Brunswick, Southend grew into a seaside resort. It also home to financial services and HM Revenue & Customs are a big employer in the area.
London Southend Airport is a converted military airfield. The town features in the novel Emma by Jane Austen and appears in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, in a distorted version and was used as a promo for David Hasselhoff's series, Hoff The Record.
In sporting terms the only professional football club in the area are Southend United, it does have another club called Southend Manor who play in the Essex Senior League. It is home for two rugby union teams, Southend R.F.C. and Westcliff R.F.C. and was home to the Essex Pirates who competed in the British Basketball League from 2009 until 2011. Essex County Cricket Club play in Southend for one week of the season.
The Adventurers competed as the Southend Sea Devils in 2020, they have re-branded for this season. They produced a valiant fight-back in the closing weeks of the season, but ultimately missed out on the playoffs which meant they were playing BFO for the 2021 season. The GM picked up one GM Of The Week award in 2020.
This is Ross, the GM of Southend Adventurers, and these are his Quick 10 Questions.

I got involved through another GM, CDK (Jurassic Coast Jackrabbits). He let me know there was a spot opening up and how good it was, so thought I would give it a go.

Vikings - The first year I did fantasy I had several Vikings players, so ended up following them the most, they they sucked me in.
3. How did you get into NFL?
Through guys at work. I joined their fantasy league to give it a go. A few weeks in I was hooked. Sunday's have never been the same since.
4. Who is your favourite player and why?
Keeping with my Vikings bias, I'm going to Harrison Smith. He's there when you need him.

I had done a few years of fantasy in a couple of leagues and took over Southend a couple of weeks into last season. I'm looking forward to a full season with them this year.

For it. More chances to see different teams playing in the UK.
7. What other hobbies/sports do you enjoy apart from NFL?
I enjoy surfing, cooking and cycling. Probably in that order.
8. What's your favourite film?
Jurassic Park, old Bond films, anything with a bit of cheese.
9. What's your favourite music?
Growing up I listened to a lot of punk, so that's always a go-to.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think it will be the Packers.
We want to thank Ross from taking the time out of his busy surfing, cooking and cycling schedule to answer these questions. We wish him all the best in his first full season.
